The ALP-X family is growing! New products in spring/summer 2011

The ALP-X product family from GORE BIKE WEAR™ will feature some new additions for summer 2011 - the first bibtights specially developed for mountain bikers and the new version of the ALP-X jersey. What's the difference? With 20 items of clothing in this summer range, the ALP-X family now provides you with comprehensive clothing solutions from head to toe. All of these items are carefully coordinated and geared to meet cyclists' needs.

But what exactly are these needs?
To begin with, the developers needed to answer a range of questions: What difference is there between a mountain biker's needs and the other cyclists needs? What terrain will they be travelling through, and what type of conditions will they encounter? These are just some of the many questions that need to be answered to develop the best possible product for the particular biker and the area of use.

Product 1: The new ALP-X bibtights
A cyclist needs shorts or pants that fit perfectly - many cyclists therefore prefer bibtights. These always stay in position and keep the kidney area warm and comfortable. A highly functional material mix rapidly absorbs body moisture, ensuring maximum comfort.
However, mountain bikers need more than this. They are in the saddle for several hours a day, and for several days in a row. What they need, therefore, is a seat insert that is perfectly adapted to the mountain biker's posture - one that reduces the pressure on the ischium and nerves, dries quickly and is ready for use the next day. The perfect solution here is the specially developed, tried-and-true ALP-X seat insert - for the first time integrated into bibtights, and featuring special designs for both men and women.
A transalpine cyclist spends a lot of time on off-road terrain. Wide gravel paths can alternate with narrow trails and rocky descents. The paths are lined with bushes, and the material is pushed to its limits. The special ceramic print on the thighs prevents chafing from the material. It can also prevent the material from tearing, even after an encounter with sharp branches or after a fall. It combines the protection offered by baggy shorts with the comfort of bibtights.
A light mesh material is used to provide the necessary ventilation in the upper back area. These bibtights also feature a wide gripper elastic pad on the leg border, soft, comfortable straps and various reflective logos to ensure enhanced visibility.

The women's version additionally features the smart, patented solution for quick toilet stops. This is an ingenious answer for the many women who have found such stops a nuisance up to now and have perhaps been put off buying a pair of bibtights. The garment features side zips above the hips that can simply be opened and closed with one hand movement. Because the tights are designed with highly stretchable materials, they can easily be pulled down when the zips are open - so there's no need to remove a jersey, vest or jacket.

The ALP-X bibtights provide optimum fit, comfort and protection for both men and women on long trips.

Product 2: The new ALP-X 2.0 jersey
The men's and women's jerseys are specially adapted to meet the needs of transalpine cyclists, and boast a range of new features. The previous design already provided efficient ventilation with a long front zipper and mesh inserts. The new jersey incorporates a full-length zipper for maximum ventilation, while the size of the mesh inserts under the arms and in the back and neck areas has been increased. You hardly notice you are wearing the ALP-X jersey because of the snug-fitting cut and the reduced weight of the garment. The moisture-management material quickly absorbs moisture from the body. There is no unpleasant evaporation chill, and the jersey does not stick to the skin. You also appreciate the benefits on tours lasting several days, because the jersey dries rapidly. If you are wearing a backpack, soft silicone attachments in the shoulder area prevent any chafing from the material. There is a front pocket, plus five back and two side pockets, making a total of eight different pockets. They are all easy to access, even when wearing a backpack, and provide plenty of space for energy bars, the ALP-X jacket and other small items.
As with the ALP-X 2.0 jersey, there is also the ALP-X 2.0 LADY jersey, featuring the same functions. The only differences are the tapered feminine cut, the design, and the number of pockets, which is reduced to five.
