Innovative, functional and stylish - that's the new COSMO High Vis Commuting Jacket from GORE BIKE WEAR™ which will be available exclusively in Evans Cycles stores from December 2009.

The design team at GORE BIKE WEAR™ created this new generation jacket to offer cyclists an intelligent jacket made using GORE-TEX® Performance Shell fabric – with a twist!  What makes this jacket so different and, in fact, truly unique, is that the fabric technology and construction used mean it can easily be worn in either one of two ways. 

The outside of the jacket has high vis panels positioned at strategic points – the arm and shoulder area and the back – where visibility is needed most. The remaining parts of the outside of the jacket are made with contrasting black GORE-TEX® Performance Shell.  For commuters in major towns and cities throughout the UK, extra ‘stand out’ safety features are essential and so the jacket has reflective piping and logo on the shoulders and more reflective piping on the back panel which ensures 360 degree visibility when riding in low light or the dark.  

Turn the jacket inside out and what do you get?  The inside of the jacket has been made with a fully seam-sealed grey fabric and is finished with two pockets. This gives it the appearance of a smartly designed waterproof jacket meaning it can be worn not just when cycling but at any time. An additional style feature is the stow-away hood which fits snugly into the high collar.

The COSMO High Vis Commuting Jacket is the result of the collaboration between Evans Cycles and GORE BIKE WEAR™, which has taken into account increased feedback from cyclists about their need for durably waterproof commuting garments which provide superior comfort and look stylish. This 2-in-1 jacket also gives commuter cyclists a smartly designed alternative to the single colour, high vis yellow jackets currently available which, over time, often fade to washed out pale yellow.  

The yellow fabric used for the COSMO High Vis Commuting Jacket has already been tried and tested in industrial workwear and in tough, all-weather sailing garments where it has proved that it offers not only high visibility protection but also durable colour fastness with no colour fade after washing.

Additional design benefits of the jacket include: specialist fit for comfort whilst in a cycling position, an ergonomically shaped high collar, front zip with semi-lock slider, zip tags for easy opening, adjustable cuffs and adjustable hem with easy-to-use cord stoppers covered by a port and elastic draw-cord.
